Work Blues

Sorry for being totally absent for a while. It wasn't even that I haven't had things to say. I've had a post idea saved on my desktop since last Wednesday, I just haven't the time or inclination to write it up. Things have been a little crazy. We found out last week that Boss is leaving our office to go to another office several states away. A Boss from another local office will be coming here. Which will be a shake-up, but we'll get through it. Boss and I have had our differences, so in some ways I'm glad to see him go. However, I found out the other day that he's taking my closest friend in the office with him. It's an awesome promotion for her, so I'm absolutely delighted for her. But I'm just devastated. She's the one person I totally trust, who has never told a secret I told her. She's the other "un-cool girl" - we joke that by the time the two of us know the office gossip, everybody knows it. She's the kind of friend that when we go out to lunch, we play old '80's songs on the radio and sing along. That kind of friend - the kind where you can really be yourself. And the worst part? No one else knows yet! She's only told me. The "un-cool girls" are the ones in the know this time. I can't even talk to anyone about it.

Well, that is awesome for her, but I feel your pain! I had two awesome work spouses at my last job and I don't really have one here. It's tough.

Thanks Jess!

oh no... that does totally suck :-( i don't know what i'd do here at work w/o my work bff. my last job i didn't have a work spouse (love that term, jess!) and it was LAAAAME. actually, that may have just been the job / company. hard to tell.

That sucks about losing your work friend - boo!

My old pod-mate (our work areas are called 'pods' - lame, I know) and I were really good friends, but the company insists on shuffling people around every 6 months and now I don't see her anymore. I've been here nearly 3 years, and I've sat in 5 different places.

My last work husband became my real husband. :)

Ah man, that's going to be hard. But hurray for the "uncool" girls knowing the scoop before anyone else.

Thanks Alice! I like all my co-workers, but I really confided in this chick, so it's hard to lose her. Yeah, some companies just don't attract good people. I was at one of those my last job.

Hey Shauna - They call some of our work areas "pods", too. Although mine is called an "office". Heh. They move the pod folks around a lot, too.

Lol on your work hubby becoming your real hubby! That's the danger with those work spouses!

Shelly - it is hard. She's not leaving until August, though. So at least it's a while off. It's just the shock of the news right now.

That stinks to lose a friend at work. Hope your new boss is cool, though.

Thanks jmc. I hope he is, too. I've heard mixed reviews so far.
